Georgetown ZAT Update
Meg is playing in her first 11-12 year ZAT tournament up the road in Georgetown. Her first match this morning was against a nine year old. Sounds OK until I hear from her mother that she's going to the Little Mo National tournament to be held at the Austin Tennis Academy later in the year.
This is the tournament Andy Roddick won in his youth.
It was a very evenly matched battled. Meg got down 5-1 early in the first set, but roared back to make it 5-4, with the serve. She couldn't quite overtake her opponent and lost the set 6-4 after an hour of play.
The second set was very evenly contested with most games going to deuce. Meg's opponent ultimately prevailed, 6-4, after another hour of battle.
Meg will play in the consolation draw this afternoon around 2:30pm. Stay tuned...
Saturday Evening Update
Meg ended up playing at 5pm due to a 2:30 bye. She played hard against an 11 year old but wilted in the Texas heat dropping the match 6-1, 6-2. She be at tennis camp next week working hard to get ready for the Corpus Christi ZAT next month, now knowing what it takes to play these older girls.
We're proud of the way you competed, Meg!
