Temporary Mailbox

I went out to the property with Kate and Scott. We put in a temporary mailbox so we could use 3400 Windy Harbor as our forwarding address when we move out in a few weeks.

I pulled out the old rock pick that I purchased back at the old house. Bob and I thought we didn't need a jackhammer and could manually did post holes when we were adding a fence to close in the backyard. Big mistake... Even in our youth we were thoroughly whipped digging just 4 holes!

This time it was only one hole. I worked the pick and Kate cleared the dirt and broken rock out of the hole. We got it down about a foot through the rock. As you can see we piled some dirt around it to make it a little more secure.

Preparing for March Madness

Scott really enjoyed his first season of basketball! His third grad team, the Falcons had a great season! His strength is defense, where he can be physical.

Skiing, Sledding, Tubing Over Spring Break

During Spring Break Meg, Scott and I hit Utah to do some skiing, sledding, tubing and generally having a great time. Meg loved skiing and she transformed her "pizza" wedge into some pretty parallel turns. Scott wasn't the biggest fan of skiing, so Scott and I spent some time playing chess in the Stein Erikson lodge. It really started to snow when we went tubing and Scott tried the mini-snowmobiles. We had lots of fresh snow every day.

The Foundation Now Poured

Deb and I took a trip overr to the property and saw our freshly poured Foundation. They were able to get it don before the rains set in on Saturday. We also have been tracking the progress of our neighbors who are also building their house, started last November.

He said the rains are good for the concrete as it cures, since it's an exothermic reaction (gives off heat). A quick Google search on concrete setting confirms what he says.

Here are some pictures from this dreary, rainy day in Austin:

Scott's Cotillion Adventure

Scott is now a graduate of the 2006 Cotillion season! He has mastered the dance steps for the fox trot, waltz, two step, cotton-eyed Joe, just to name of few. He also learned about the importance of a firm handshake and eye contact.

Jim and I got to join him at the end of Cotillion dance.

Here are some photos from 50s night and western night.

Foundation Box, Plumbing in Place

Claire and I had a chance to visit our 3400 Windy Harbor property this beautiful Saturday. They have made good progress this week. The foundation box is in place, the trenches are run for the plumbing, and the plumbing going through the foundation is in place. Here's a couple of pictures.

Claire Wins Georgetown Champ Tournament!

Over the weekend, Claire won the Georgetown Champ Tournament, and won it in impressive fashion.

She needed to reach the finals to join the ranks of the SuperChamp level players in Texas. Instead of settling for that, she went on to win 6-2, 6-2 in the finals.

Whoo hoo... way to go Claire!
