A Day Around Bangkok
It does appear that this blog is turning into a travel log... today's stop on the global tour is Bangkok. I arrived in the wee hours, 1 a.m. local Bangkok time on Sunday morning. After a few hours sleep I headed out Sunday morning to see some of the sites of Bangkok. I was a day ahead of most the other folks coming from Austin, so I flew solo.
First stop was the Grand Palace and Buddhist temple Wat Pho.
Here's the "reclining Bhudda" from Wat Pho:
In the same area, the ministry of defense looked well fortified with cannons:
The markets were filled with the smell of Thai spices, outdoor cooking, and orange-robed Bhuddist monks taking a walk about. Here's a few pictures:
The Chao Phraya river flows right through the heart of the city. Here's a few from my hotel, the Shangri-la, from the restaurant deck:
Now that it's Monday, it's time to switch gears and get some work done!

Time for a Parade
With the kids back in school this week, it was time to celebrate the Lake Travis 4A state football championship. I took Claire and Scott over to the Hill Country Galleria where a parade was put together to honor the accomplishment of the team.
It was perfect parade weather--beautiful blue-sky with temperatures in the 70s.
Here's a video of some clips and pictures strung together from the parade:
And here's Scott and Claire with KISS FM radio personality, Lunchbox, after the parade:
