Lake Travis Then and Now
Back in 2006, heavy rains through the spring and summer pushed the water levels in Lake Travis up over 700 feet above sea level (almost 20' above what's considered full--681'). Here's a picture I had looking out from the flooded parking lot at Mansfield Dam Park:
Today, Deb, Scott and I went over for a swim. The lake level is currently 635'. Here's a picture a pointing the same direction although past the parking lot:
It looks like we're getting close to where the Sometimes Islands will connect to Mansfield Dam Park and extend the park more than a mile into the main basin of the lake. With the level this low, you can again see the original path of the Colorado River before Mansfield Dam was built.
Some rain would be quite helpful!
